Death Blamed on Accident
Injuries suffered in an accident while at work Friday were blamed for the death early Friday at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Charles A. Jones, 58, of 1523 E. Carson St., foreman for the Shafer Plumbing Company.
According to Pressly Shafer, owner of the firm, Jones suffered a fractured skull when he fell from a ladder while removing pipe fittings at the old A.B. Frank Bldg., Presa and Nueva Sts., now being remodeled for occupancy by officers of the Public Service Board.
Shafer said Jones suffered the fracture either in the fall from the ladder or when struck by a piece of pipe he was pulling.
Charles A. Jones, Sr., 57, a resident of San Antonio 38 years, died Saturday at a local hospital.
A native of Savannah, Ga., he resided at 1523 E. Carson St. He was a plumber, and a member of of Eagles No. 70.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Zelda Jones; two sons, Charles A. Jones, Jr., Germany, and Frank A. JOnes, San Antonio; and a sister Mrs. Thomas Hoover, Marion, Ohio. Riebe Funeral Home is in charge.
