Maxine B. Stokes

Maxine Hazel Stokes, age 85, of Austin, passed away on April 29, 2007.

Maxine was born November 13, 1921 to Lena and Chester Baker. Her life was her family and her home. She loved quilting, sewing, flowers and playing the organ. She was a Girl Scouts leader and a volunteer at South Austin Hospital.

Survivors are her husband, George Stokes, Sr.; daughters, Phyllis J. Workinger, Shirley Pepper and Carole Robison; son, George N. Stokes, Jr.; sister, Connie Brown of Ormond Beach, FL.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, TX.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2007 at Harrell Funeral Home Chapel, Austin, TX. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2007 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.
