VORDENBAUM
Interested in contacting people with ancestors who immigrated to Medina County, Texas. My special interests are in the Muennink family and a lady known as "Henrich" in the early census. I have also entered much of the genealogy of the county into my Brother's Keeper software (from "The History of Medina County") and would be interested in exchanging GEDCOMs with others doing the same. Johann August Schaper was the first minister of the New Fountain Methodist Church. His son William married a Muennink. Four Schapers (J.A., wife Louisa, son William, and daughter Lisette Stein) are buried in the same small cemetery between Seguin and New Berlin in Guadalupe County. William was also a Methodist preacher, though he died young. Between them they preached over much of German Texas. William's widow remarried a minister, too. His name was Vordenbaum, and they lived out their lives in San Antonio. Dave Crane

SALINAS, LIMES, SIMS, CONKLIN
SALINAS, LIMES, SIMS, CONKLIN. My husband's family is from Bracketville here in Kinney Co. Any information about the following families will be most appreciated. Beginning with my husband: Wardell Conklin WRIGHT & twin sister, Lillian Anita WRIGHT, b. Jun 1947 Del Rio, Val Verde, TX (was this the closest hospital?) Mother: MARGUERITE ETTAH CONKLIN b. 22 Jul 1915 San Antonio. Her father, FRANK MILTON CONKLIN b. 17 May 1871 in NY was in the army. In Kinney Co. he married TRINIDAD "TRINNIE" LIMES on 15 May 1902 (I have a copy of the marriage cert). This is the problem: Trinnie's last name on the marriage cert. is LIMES, but it is apparent she had a first marriage to Limes and had a child MARY HELEN LIMES b. 11 Apr 1897 in San Antonio, who apparently was adopted by Frank M. Conklin, her 2nd husband. What happened to Mr. Limes? I believe TRINNIE'S true maiden name was SALINAS. Here comes the 2nd complication. Trinnie's mother: THERESA I believe had a 1st marriage to a "SALINAS" before she married CHARLES K. SIMS in 1874. Please look at the census below. Both Trinnie & Simplicia married LIMES'-and they are shown as stepdau's. -Note the stepson Manuel SALINAS. But Trinnie used the last name of SIMS as her original lineage, erasing SALINAS until I found it this year. I need help with both of these marriages. Theresa to SALINAS and Trinnie to LIMES. What is NR? Does the local Catholic church have records? Mucho gracious. Doni Wright of Stafford VA. 1900 TX Fed Census, Kinney Co., pct 1 Sims, Charles K. Ada Aftan BRUNS who married Frank BROWN ,may have remained in TX.[She died in 1915, we understand.]Ada's children ended up in CA., as did Carl Wesley BRUNS and Amelia BRUNS who married Harry HOFFSTATT. Another son, was Frank Newton BRUNS, who is my Grandfather. He and Bertha EDWARDS ended up in New York State. I have lots of information; but need to verify and add to it. Joyce Armstrong-Cooper
